Introduction
eSIS can record a student’s absence or late arrival when the student checks into school late or checks out of school early. The time that a student enters or leaves can be recorded with the Sign In/Out function and only requires that you know a student’s pupil number or name.
Individual and Mass Sign In/Sign Out capabilities are allowed in eSIS. The time and reason that a student is signing in or out is recorded by the school data manager during the sign-in/out session.
Mass sign in and sign out is recommended for signing a group of students out and back in during the instructional day. This function allows you to assign one reason and absence or late arrival specification for multiple students in a single entry. Once entered, the absence Type, Reason, Sign In, and Sign Out times are automatically applied to each student record that is part of the group that has that data in common.
In Daily Attendance schools, sign-in and sign-out entries are limited to one each, per student, per day. Typically, the school data manager maintains the daily sign in and sign out log.
