Grades and Catchments

Introduction

This lesson demonstrates grade and catchment functionality. Grades in eSIS refer to the current grades taught at the school. Schools can add and delete grades as needed.

Catchments are used to identify and validate boundaries against the valid addresses within the LEA System Code. Catchments are maintained by the LEA in the Catchment System Code table.  The LEA assigns a code to a catchment in order to associate street address, including city and zip code, to a school or schools. The LEA may also add, modify, and delete catchments in the System Codes.

Note: After being defined at the district level, catchments must be added to the individual school(s).

Catchments would not be used in all circumstances, and this option can be enabled or disabled in the Company File.

Note: Catchments are available to schools if the Verify to School Catchment field is checked on the Company File Options tab.  In order for Catchments to work, the Verification is also checked on the Company File Options tab.

For example, catchments would not be used at alternative schools that pull students from all over the district and not from a geographic zone.
